Physical Description:
A mutation of the original Green Cheek Conure, this species has the same outlining on its feathers, but the typical green of the back, wings, stomach, and face are a lovely blue/green or turquoise color. The back of their head is black, while the throat and upper chest are silver with black outlining. They have white, featherless skin around the eyes and deep, dark red (almost maroon) on the tail. Their feet and beaks are black. Average Lifespan: 15+ years

Sexing: This species is not sexually dimorphic, which means there is no visible difference between male and female. The only sure way to know the sex of these parrots is with a DNA test.

Origin: South America – specifically Brazil and Bolivia

Trainability: If purchased from a young age these birds are easily hand-tamed and can become very trusting and affectionate. They generally do not speak but some may imitate a word or two. Most will simply imitate whistles or sounds. Like most parrots, they enjoy attention and time with their caregivers and will happily spend all day with you. Simple tricks such as putting an object into a basket may be taught if one has enough patience, and the same goes for “potty training.”

Loudness: This species is an ideal apartment bird. Unlike most conures, the Green Cheek Conure is incredibly soft-spoken. Their repertoire of calls includes mostly low chirps and squeaks. If you’re looking for something that is highly interactive, beautiful, and soft-spoken, this species would be an excellent choice.

We guarantee that if during your lifetime, you are no longer able to properly care for your bird, or give your bird the attention it need's, we will accept the bird back on consignment and will find another great home for your bird. We do take a 40% commission and charge a nominal daily fee to feed and clean, but you can rest assured that you always have a place for your bird should the need arise.
