<div id="tab-1" class="tab active">Physical Description: Brown Headed Parrots are beautiful, sweet, quiet, medium sized birds. They look like sturdy little Conures, and are often mistaken for Senegal parrots because of their similarities. Their entire body is green, except for a bit of yellow under the wings, and the grayish-brown on their head and tail.</div>

Sexing: Sexing these birds requires a DNA test, as they are not sexually dimorphic (you cannot tell the sex just by looking at them).
Origin: Southern Africa
Trainability: Domestic hand-fed babies make excellent pets. Brown-headed parrots are playful, outgoing, affectionate birds. They are very smart birds, often getting into trouble because of it. They are easy to trick train, and can be taught to put rings on a peg, coins into a box, or other fun and entertaining tricks. They enjoy trick training because it seems like a game to them. In fact, everything is a game to these guys! They will play with just about anything, and are very easy to please. Like most African birds, Brown-headed parrots can be good talkers. Although their vocabulary might not be large, they speak clearly and are easy to understand. They are also very good at imitating sounds.
Loudness: Brown-headed parrots are not overly loud birds. In fact, they tend to be very quiet birds unless they pick up a sound such as a car or smoke alarm. In general, the rule is that Brown-headed parrots will be quiet birds if they are raised in a quiet household. If the household is frequently busy and noisy, then the bird will be, too. They learn their sounds from their surroundings, after all. That being said, Brown-headed parrots can make very good apartment birds.
